My Educational ePortfolio
I am currently attending Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am studying to become a Physical Therapy Assistant with the goal to receive my Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
In these pages, I present my goals, both short- and long-term. Also, I will post my work during my general education and continue to add to them my experiences and reflections that relate to my educational progress. I will show my learning experiences outside the classroom and how they relate to my schooling and future career. I will describe my experiences in the "real" world and what they have taught me and my resumé of my education, work experience and other achievements.
Feel free to browse and learn more about me, my experiences and my thoughts. I would appreciate any feedback and how I can make this a deeper reflection of who I am and what my education means to me.

Adventure is out there!
From Disney Pixar's Up
The meaning behind the title of my ePortfolio:
In the movie Up, Carl Fredricksen is a young boy who dreams of being an explorer, like his hero, Charles F. Muntz. He is befriended by an energetic tomboy named Ellie after meeting her in an abandoned house – her clubhouse. She has many fanciful aspirations; including moving her clubhouse to the top of Paradise Falls in South America where Muntz went in search of an exotic giant bird. The two begin having adventures together and eventually marry, fixing up the clubhouse to be their new home. Carl works as a balloon vendor at the zoo while Ellie is a zookeeper, all the while continuing their adventures. They soon find they are unable to have children. Later, they begin to save money for the dream of moving their home to the falls, but they repeatedly have to use that money because of more urgent needs and unforeseen events (a tire blows out, Carl breaks his leg, a tree crashes into the house and breaks the roof during a storm). As they begin to age, Carl finally finds a way to surprise her with a trip to Paradise Falls, only to have Ellie suddenly become ill and later die. The story continues as Carl experiences many new challenges as he pursues the dream of moving the house to Paradise Falls.
While the movie is entertaining and has a great story, if you don’t look closely, you can easily miss one of the most important messages taught. Throughout their marriage, Carl’s journey to Paradise Falls and then becoming a mentor and friend to the young boy, Russell, difficulty and problems arise. Each time the characters are able to overcome these troubles by continuing onward with a goal in mind. The lesson Carl learns–that we all can learn–is that Ellie saw their simple life as her “adventure.” I often feel my family has major challenges and setbacks that we have to push through. School can be one of those challenges. Because of these challenges and setbacks, my wife and I have adopted the mantra of “Adventure is out there” to remind ourselves that each day is an adventure in and of itself. Regardless of what comes, as we align our thoughts and perspective, we have a better attitude and can make it through each one, together.
